Walmart: $5.03 Money Maker on A Brita Pitcher!

I shared a deal with you yesterday with which you can get a Brita Pitcher for .99 at Walgreens  starting tomorrow, January 15th. Well it turns out that the deal gets even better over at Walmart with the same coupon and rebate!

The rebate does not exclude using it along with coupons, but in order to be safe you would be better off purchasing this in a transaction with other items to prevent from having your rebate declined. This is not to be deceptive but rather to prevent confusion (as has happened to some of you and myself in the past with rebates). If you do it in a transaction by itself just make sure to keep a copy of your receipts and the rebate form should any questions arise.

Here is your scenario:

Brita Pitcher $8.97
-$4 MQ (1/15 SS)
-$10 Mail-in-Rebate
=$5.03 Money Maker!

(Thanks I Heart the Mart!)

I think it is deceptive to buy other things in the same transaction specifically to prevent the rebate people from realizing that you used coupons on the brita pitcher. The rebate is already making it free, why do something unethical for a few dollars?

Hannah~ Since the rebate in no way excludes the use of coupons it is in no way unethical. I would never encourage Bargain Blessings readers to do anything unethical.

Hannah I have known Jennie for years on a personal level. And there is NO WAY she would do anything unethical coupon related or not!

I don’t agree with covering up your coupon usage by purchasing other items at the same time. That is deceptive

It is possible to disagree about what is considered unethical, then. :)

Thanks so much Jennie for the great deal. I don’t see this an unethical at all! Why not make some extra money on an item if you can. They are going to give the rebate regardless where you buy it, you buy the item you get the rebate. So why not go to where the best deal is!! Not unethical at all!

It is in no way unethical. When the company represenatives set their pricing with Walmart or other chain stores, they know all of the coupons they will have for the quarter. They know that this can happen but allow it because most people will not turn in the rebate or forget their coupon but buy the product anyway. They feel the lift that they will get from this pricing will help them either make their numbers or keep their product on the shelf (you need to sell so many units per week of a sku or you will lose your slot). Believe me, I have worked for many suppliers and sold to many supermarket chains.

Lowes is the exact same price as Walmart. I bought the slim there at Christmas w/the $4.00 coupon & paid 4.97 ($5.28 w/tax). Lowes takes Manufacturer’s Coupons, so if you don’t have a Walmart, Lowes has the same price. Luckily I saved my receipt as well as my UPC (something I do incase of return, or as in this case, if a rebate pops up). Lucky for me the rebate form doesn’t state a start date, so that means I qualify. Yea! As a side note, Lowes is usually in-line with Walmart prices for many things. Don’t expect just because they’re a home improvement store that their prices are higher. I just purchased a smoke detector from Lowes that was two dollars LESS than the same one at Walmart.

I clicked on the mail in rebate and filled out all my info and it says error you may have already done one. Is this the only way to get the form ?

I am not able to find the rebate form. Should it be right there when I click on the link from Bargain Blessings? Or do I have to navigate through Brita’s site some how.
