Bargain Blessings Readers: Meet Julie!

About six months ago, I let you all know that I was looking for some help here on Bargain Blessings. I was shocked at how many responses I received and it took me quite a while to choose the right person but I finally did, and that person is Julie Dion. Since then the lovely Julie has been busy, busy, busy helping me behind the scenes to keep everything up and running. As many of you know, I work full time besides running Bargain Blessings, so I cannot tell you what a blessing it has been to have Julie’s help during the past six months.

One of the things that Julie helps me with most is posting many of the deals that you find here every day. Up until now those deals have all been posted under my name, but after doing some prayerful thinking over the past couple of weeks I’ve decided that it is long over due for me to introduce you all to Julie. As women, I think that many of us have the tendency to put forward a “I can do it all” front and I want you all to know that I struggle with the same 24 hours each day that the rest of you do. There is simply no way that I could do all of this without help.

Julie has been very dedicated in not only bringing you deals, but also doing extensive research on many of them to ensure that they are accurate before they get posted on Bargain Blessings. I am so thankful for her help and hope that you will all join me in welcoming her to Bargain Blessings! :) Going forward, you can look at the top of a post where it now says “by Jennie” to see if I posted it or Julie posted it.

It is my pleasure to introduce you all to Julie…

Hello Bargain Blessings readers! I have really enjoyed posting deals on the site for the past 6 months, and am now very excited to now introduce myself! My name is Julie Dion, and I am currently a stay at home mom to a beautiful 2-year-old little girl, Ella.

I grew up in a small town in Northwest Iowa, graduated from Iowa State in Marketing and Advertising and moved up to Minneapolis to work at Best Buy’s Corporate Office Advertising Dept. After about a year and a half I was ready for a change and decided to move out to Denver, Colorado. I started working for The Rocky Mountain News soon after arriving coordinating the distribution of retailer and coupon newspaper inserts. Little did I know how much those coupon inserts would end up being such a large portion of my future lifestyle! After the Rocky Mountain News merged with the Post, I decided it was time to move on and sought other opportunities. I eventually ended up with a great small company, and was with them over 4 years in a marketing and recruiting capacity. In 2008, this company was one the first to be hit with the recession and I was laid off. My husband David, at the time had a great job, so we decided to take this opportunity to start a family.

About 10 months after our daughter, Ella, was born my husband lost his job due to a back injury. Within a couple of years our household had gone from 2 good jobs to none. I was beside myself with worry, and when a mom’s email group that I was a part of mentioned Bargain Blessings, I took a look and was hooked. I had always used coupons in the past, but I never previously knew how much you could really save by matching the sales with coupons. I felt so blessed to have found Bargain Blessings to help us spend more wisely.

Now over a year later we are able to live comfortably on a tight budget. This would not have been possible without the skills I have learned through Bargain Blessings. When the opportunity came up to help other families as Bargain Blessings had ours, I jumped at the chance. No matter what financial situation my family is in, I know that we will never go back to the “conventional shopping” that we used to. I love the fact that I now have the tools to get great deals on almost anything that I need and want…(I have always had a weakness for shoes and handbags )

I am honored to be a part of the Bargain Blessings Team, and I am excited to get to know you all as well!

Please help to welcome Julie to the Bargain Blessings family!

Welcome and thank you for all you and Jennie do! It’s nice to know we have “Team J & J” watching our bargaining backs!

I’ll be heading to Iowa in May, Franklin County. Mumz lives there so it’s time for a visit – whether she likes it or not :)

So nice to have other midwesties here!

Welcome Julie! I just wanted to share that due to my advanced stage of pregnancy and bad weather, I have been sending my husband out with the coupons and grocery list the past few weeks. We have been out of olives for some time and we are brand loyal to a particularly delicious calmata, and no sales :( My husband bought them anyway, but mentioned how difficult it was for him after following the sales/coupon match-ups to spend that much on a jar of olives!

Hi Brandi! First of all, congrats! Your story sounds a lot like our household ;-) It took my husband a little bit to get used to it, but now he feels the same way!
