This See You Shop Thursday story is my favorite so far this year. Why? Becuase it is not only a story of saving, but a story of giving back! Reader Hazel is going to be taking a trip to Iowa soon and all of these items are going with her…to donate to a food pantry! I know she has been working really hard since December to gather everything and it is just so incredible to think about all of the people that are going to be helped by it.
One of my favorite things about shopping smart and stretching my budget is how it has allowed me to give back in a way that I never would have been able to do before. It’s just pure awesomeness.
Did you know that 1 in 6 Americans are facing hunger? That is nearly 49 million people in our country, including more that 16 million children are living with empty tummies. 
This Saturday, May 12th is the 20th annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. Letter carriers across the country, in partnership with the U.S. Postal Service will be collecting food for families in need. Here is all you need to participate:
1. Collect and bag non-persidhable food items.
2. Place your bags by your mailbox on Saturday, May 12th for your letter carrier to pick-up and deliver to a local food bank of pantry.
It just doesn’t get much easier than that! I hope you will all join me this weekend to help our neighbors and friends. Well you guys (and gals ) know that I was a little hesitant to take on doing Albertsons coupon match-ups, but I’m so encouraged by all the shopping success many of you are having there. Thank you so much to those of you who have sent me e-mails and left comments about your trips. It really makes my day and all the hard work so very worth it! Check out the e-mail that I received from reader Amy tonight:
To thank you for posting Albertsons match-ups, I want to share with you how much I saved on my shopping trip today. I have been playing their Monopoly Game and some of the game pieces are Albertsons coupons. I used both Albertsons coupons and manufacturer coupons for the C&H Sugar and the Planters Peanut Butter. Another coupon I won through the game was a free bag of Cheetos. The Dentyne and Trident gum were on clearance for $0.96 each and I had (4) $0.75 off coupons which doubled, so the gum was free too. I paid $16.36 before tax. This would have cost $59.53. I saved $43.17 or 72.5%. As an added bonus, today was double Monopoly day, so I got twice as many game pieces as I normally would have, so more coupons to use next week.

Reader Shauna had a very successful shopping trip to Safeway this week. After an original bill of around $50, she got it down to only $9.74. On top of that, she also received a catalina coupon for a FREE gallon of milk!

Reader Missy got some seriously sweet deals over at Walmart yesterday! She found a bunch of items on clearance and stacked those deals with coupons to make the deals even better.

Reader Bridget e-mailed be about some awesome deals that she was able to snag at Macy’s today! Here is what she had to say about her trip:
They had an extra 50% winter clearance for kids. I got two really nice winter coats, two pairs of snow pants, two girl’s sweaters, two girl’s t-shirts, one girl’s dress shirt, and a boy’s t-shirt. All of this for $93.86 regular price would of been $403.91. They are really nice 4-in-1 coats also.
Thanks so much for sharing Bridget! That is a savings of over 76%, which is awesome. I have a feeling someone else in Bridget’s family is also pretty happy about all her great buys. If you are planning to check your local store for some of these markdowns, make sure to do it soon as Macy’s clearance can tend to get picked over rather quickly in my experience.
