Oh what an awesome match-up, thank you! I’m going to be skipping thru the aisles at Safeway this week because this sure looks like oodles of fun!

Reply

3 Andrea August 8, 2012 at 8:01 AM

We also got a .50/1 Motts or Ocean Spray fruit snacks so if those are included in the buy 4 event (they usually are), they would be free!!!!! Stocking up now for those school lunches!!

Thanks so much for getting these up so early Jennie! I was HOPING I could hit Safeway today, but I just CAN’T go to the store before I see YOUR matchups. They are the best! Thanks again for all your hardwork. I put it to use daily! Have a great week!

Does anybody know if the Alamosa Safeway doubles coupons?

Reply

There are also coupons for .50 off 1 Chex cereal in the 7/15 SS. They will double to $1 making the Chex cereal only .49… thats a great deal!

8 Hazel August 8, 2012 at 2:59 PM

Boy howdy thank you for posting! I alpha’d my GM cereal Qs this morning hoping to find some other kinds @ $.49 … I’ll make sure to look for the Chex. Wish I had a big ole honker of a bowl right now!

I called Safeway and they said the deals on here were just a rumor? Help!!!!

Reply

10 Nicole August 9, 2012 at 5:56 PM

Don’t get discouraged. The store employees, even managers, don’t usually know about these couponing blogs – so if you are quoting a deal that is on here don’t expect to get much help from Safeway.
Sales can be regional, so if a deal on here doesn’t match up with what your store has just take it with a grain of salt. Sometimes blogs accidentally mis-post sizes/brands/etc. and you end up trying to get something that isn’t right.
I think just use these sites as a guide – they are most certainly not set in stone. You’ll get the knack of it =)

Ellen M. Shriver Lopes You can see all of these deals in your local ad and also online. I’m not sure what you mean by them being a “rumor”? http://www.safeway.com/IFL/Grocery/Weekly-Specials

Wow, I made it out of safeway today saving 85% off of $130. Seems like it’s been awhile! I am glad to be well stocked on bars, snacks, and cereal for back to school. The snack deal seems to be even better. I got 2 catalinas that I wasn’t expecting.. I don’t know the details, but I’ll tell you what I got.

I bought 4 of the protein nature valley granola bars and got a $2 catalina
I got a LOT of fiber one bar/brownie items and got a $3 catalina.

Wish I would have known and I would have bought another nature valley. Hope someone else can capitalize on this one! :)

Reply

16 Jill August 8, 2012 at 8:49 PM

Also the Motts, ocean spray, and sunkist fruit snacks were included in this sale. Yay for free fruit snacks!

Thanks so much for posting about the catalina offer, Jill!

Does anyone know the specs on the offer or where to find the specs? I tried coupon network but it’s not part of their list.

Thanks much!

Here’s a link to another site where there is an image of the fiber one cat. HTH.
http://www.weusecoupons.com/2012/08/hot-fiber-one-bar-catalina-at-safeway/

I haven’t seen anything on the details of the nature valley one. But I bought 5 and got the 3.00 cat. So if Jill bought 4 and got a $2.00 cat then perhaps it’s the same as the fiber one cat.

This site and the bargaineers never cease to bring a smile to my face! It’s so great knowing we’re all in this together and are there to help out!

Thanks so much for the specs and info y’all … I’ll be doing the happy dawg leg shake, err, would that be a the happy ‘cat’ leg shake?

Reply

21 Mommy Kane August 9, 2012 at 4:23 PM

Yes there are two cat deals I found when I went this afternoon. I got a $3 from Nature Valley (bought 5 protein chewy bars) and got a $3 from Fiber One (bought 4 fiber one chewy bars and 2 fiber one brownie bars). The fiber one was unexpected. Also the protein bars were part of the B4G4 deal and when you buy 4 or more they were 2.00 each. Use the .50 MC and when doubled they are $1, plus if you buy 5 fiber one products you get a $3 cat, so I think .40 each after that?? Awesome deal! I really like these and with 10g protein they make a great breakfast when I am on the go!

Great deal indeed!

btw Lady HurriKane, just wanted to thank you for showing me the way to Silk! Your going to visit the Magic Disney Mouse and needing the singles got me to try one. I’m now a faithful follower of the chocolate version. I drink it every night and it seems to help with certain old lady things I’m going thru. I don’t know if it really does, but I think it does so therefore it does. Yeah, there goes my pretzel logic again. Many thanks :)

Reply

23 Mommy Kane August 10, 2012 at 8:58 AM

Yes the chocolate is mighty tasty! My little ones would drink that all the time if I let them. It has a lot of sugar in it, but I recently realized, I can mix it half with original and they can still have chocolate milk but with less sugar. It is so chocolatey I find this works great! Just wish it had more protein, then it would be awesome!

Does anyone else have a hard time with the Safeway in Castle Rock? I try and try and then get frustrated and drive to Castle Pines for months at a time. Then I try and try and it just never seems to go well. Things either don’t wring up right or like tonight the guy said NONE of my coupons would scan not even a beep so he had to do them all by hand and I ended up spending about $5 more than I should have because he didn’t enter them right. I was too busy bagging my own groceries to watch him while he did my coupons. Ugh. I am going back to Castle Pines.

Reply

25 Hazel August 9, 2012 at 8:39 AM

You betcha – Castle Rock is a frightmare! I haven’t given them one dime in months. Castle Pines is great, plus the no sales tax on a good majority of food items.

The early morning crew there is the best. I have problems with the pm crew (one person) won’t accept in-ad Qs with Mfg Qs, so I go when I know she’s not there.

Reply

26 Jacque August 9, 2012 at 9:20 AM

Thanks for reconfirming Hazel! I had a feeling you have shopped at both. I typically make the drive just for the sales tax reason but I went late last night and just thought I would stay local this time. One more question for you. The only issue that I have ever run into in Castle Pines Safeway is if I am getting something that is buy one get one and I have a cents off q there is a gal that will only let me use one 1 instead of 2. Is that how it is suppose to work? Should I be able to use 1 or 2 on a Safeway buy one get one sale?

Reply

27 Hazel August 9, 2012 at 9:46 AM

Yeah, on BOGO you can only use one coupon, since “technically” you’re only paying for / buying one item. I suppose it makes sense but I like my couponers pretzel logic better which is to be able to use two coupons and say, nope, I’m using this coupon on the one that isn’t free then do a quick flop and say, but nope, I’m using the coupon on this one that isn’t free.

But, I still think Hostess products and Beef-A-Roni should be a food group. (shrug)

30 Hazel August 13, 2012 at 6:32 AM

Two other beautiful things about both the Soopers and Safeway @ CP – their clearance items.

At Soopers – back in the dairy section, I’m always finding gallons of milk for $1.00 and it’s always got at least a week before it expires. We’ve found Buitoni raviolis for a quarter, Land O Lakes cinnamon butter spread for $.12, cans of biscuits for a $.25, etc. Make sure you mosey in the dairy and meat sections and look for the orange tags. Yesterday I scored a dozen organic eggs (reg price $4.39) for $.75 and my CFF got half gallons of milk for $.45 each. They frequently have cottage cheese on phenom prices but since I see that every day when I look in the mirror, I don’t want to buy it. (blech)

At the Safeway – make sure to hit their clearance meat section that’s along the back of the store with the other meat. There are always scads of deals there and you can use Qs. The regular clearance cave at the back of the store is huge!

No,not a rumor,I got mine yesterday.only problem my starkist tuna coupon didn’t double.did they change policy or what’s up with that????

Reply

32 Kelly August 9, 2012 at 9:46 PM

My starkist tuna coupon didn’t double either – I believe the coupon actually says on it “do not double”, so maybe that’s why not?

Reply

33 Hazel August 10, 2012 at 6:03 AM

I noticed that last night before I bought ‘em. Looked down near the bar code and saw neither a 5 nor a 9 so I passed. Okay, I left the coupons in the Starkist boxes at the store.

I’ve become such a coupon snob, lol … if it doesn’t double, I don’t want to use it. I still show the coupon love though. Don’t want it feeling abused and neglected :)

WOW! This is the best sales I’ve seen at safeway in Months! Just go $70 of groceries for less then $20! And lots of the items will be great for my sons School lunches.
Cannot believe the start back to school in 10 days!

Reply

35 Mommy Kane August 9, 2012 at 12:22 PM

Man the sales on back to school stuff are great this week, however I am reluctant to go. The last few times I have shopped at Safeway my printable coupons wouldn’t work, specifically the ones with only one bar code on them. They won’t manually input them, so no coupon = not a good deal. Anyone else have this problem?

Reply

36 Aleesha via Facebook August 9, 2012 at 2:02 PM

yeh I noticed that Q says DO NOT DOUBLE and has the newer barcode so not too sure how that works

Reply

37 Dina August 9, 2012 at 7:26 PM

Breyer’s ice cream is on sale for 2.99 so after Q it’s 1.99 just like at King Soopers. But it could be a better deal at Safeway since they have the save $5 when you buy any $15 frozen deal with in-ad Q going on. I bought the items listed in the matchups above (3 eggo waffles and 5 Totinos pizzas) and 2 ice creams. It was enough to qualify. So if you are just over $15 limit it’s like saving an additional 33%!

38 Mommy Kane August 9, 2012 at 7:43 PM

Found the Nabisco boxes of snack packs for $3.99, Used .75/2 =$3.49/each wyb 2. Not great but not a bad deal and it’s easier than buying and then dividing them up into packs! We got Oreo packs and graham crackers but they had variety packs too :-)

At Safeway, can you use a Just for you digital coupon with a manufacture coupon? Like for the Fiber one cereal- it say $2.99- 1.00 digital just for you coupon=1.99. Can you then use a MQ on top of that? You ladies are the best- thanks!

Reply

41 Mommy Kane August 10, 2012 at 10:12 AM

I am curious what Jennie has to say on this. My cashier told me yesterday the just for u ecoupons are manufacturer coupons and I couldn’t use both. Fortunately I figured that and had already planned out my order accordingly.

Reply

42 Laura August 10, 2012 at 11:16 AM

I was able to use the MQ and my cashier took the coupon. Not sure if that’s official policy. I called the store before I left and they say “I think you should be able to”

Reply

43 Amanda August 10, 2012 at 3:02 PM

I actually asked the cashier yesterday and did that exact deal. You can use the Just for U digital coupon and your paper coupon, so I got my Fiber One cereal for $1.

Reply

44 Mommy Kane August 10, 2012 at 3:30 PM

Oh yes I did that too, I thought you meant the other coupons for .50 off a product and such. I had an ecoupon for .50 off gogurt that i used with the gogurt sale, but she said i wasn’t supposed to use paper coupons too. However after looking at my recipe, it looks like it took both!

Reply

45 Missy August 13, 2012 at 9:28 PM

Yep both ecoupons and paper coupons worked for me and machine didn’t beep.

note that ecoupons cannot be removed from card once added.

Couple other things -

As posted in the match-ups, Skippy Peanut butter is in the sale. I noticed the price on the Naturals – buy 4 and they’re $2.49. Here’s the link for coupons Rebekah posted the other day

http://www.bargainblessings.com/2012/08/new-skippy-peanut-butter-smuckers-jelly-coupons/

Also the Welch’s Jams & Jellies – buy 4 and the price is $1.49. We have Qs ($0.35/1 Welch’s Jam, Jelly or Spread, exp. 9/30/12 (RP 07/29/12) so $.79 each. The other half of the coupon has an offer for a Free Sandwich Keeper by mail when you buy any 2 Welch’s Jams or Jellies (details at welchs dot com)

What a way to jam up ‘n’ jelly tight!

49 Mommy Kane August 10, 2012 at 10:14 AM

Humm, I wonder if it includes the all fruit spreads? I will have to check when I make another trip. $1.49 is a great price for those!

50 Hazel August 13, 2012 at 6:20 AM

This Safeway cycle was so much fun! I stopped Friday and splurged on the NV Granola Thins even thought the coupon was $.50/2. Those are a great thing in case of a dire I-need-chocolate situation. Got my cat then went back for bars. I did each 5 in different transactions, thought I’d throw in a brisk walk back to the bar section and get some exercise. Did 4 dealios and the last one was the Jelly. Picked up my 4, plopped my cat down and after cat & Qs, paid $.16.

I think what put this over the top on the fun scale was it was the same register person each time. Rather than being all stuffy she really enjoyed watching what I was doing and what I “wasn’t” paying. The Jelly made her totally perk and she wanted to know HOW. So I did my usual and raved about Bargain Blessings – gave her a little notie with all the pertinents.

It’s so great to run into a register person like that – and even more great sharing Bargain Blessings with people and seeing them get excited. When they actually see a person doing it – they know for sure it can be done!
