Thieves Essential Oil: Immune System Support and More!

Well friends, today is an exciting day. Why? Because I finally get to share with you my very favorite oil in the Everyday Oils collection…Thieves!

Young Living’s Thieves essential oil blend was named after and created based on the historical account of four thieves in France who covered themselves with cloves, rosemary, and other aromatics while robbing plague victims. When the thieves were finally captured, they were offered a lighter sentance in exchange for their secret for evading the deadly disease.

Thieves oil blend includes clove, cinnamon bark, rosemary, lemon, and Eucalyptus radiata. Thieves has been university tested and found to be highly effective against airborne bacteria.

Young Living has also used the power and protection of Thieves to create an extensive line of plant-based household products including toothpaste, mouthwash, cleaning products, soaps and even throat lozenges.

A more appropriate question would be “how do I not use Thieves Oil”. 😉 As I said, Thieves happens to be my favorite Everyday Collection oil. Not only does it smell incredible, it also has SO many great uses!

I’ve used Thieves Oil to get rid of a sore throat overnight, successfully navigate the summer sniffles season when it seemed like virtually everyone around me was sick with something and for cleaning EVERY surface my house. Young Living makes a Thieves cleaning concentrate that lasts forever (I’ve been using it for three months now and I’m not even a quarter of the way through my bottle)…and again, it smells amazing! It makes me so happy to know I can go about cleaning my home without inhaling and spraying chemicals over every surface.

One of the main ingredients in the Thieves blend is Clove, so it has a very “fall like” scent to me. I diffuse Thieves more than any other oil I have…I love that it not only reminds me of my favorite season of the year, but it’s also actually good for my body – unlike all of the chemical filled candles and air freshers that I used to use.

1. Immune System Support: Put a few drops of Thieves essential oil blend in a capsule and swallow with water to support your immune system.
2. Cleanse Air: Diffuse Thieves essential oil blend for 15–30 minutes in your home or office to help eliminate airborne bacteria.
3. Seasonal Sickness: Drink a few drops in water or juice every three hours.
4. Sore Throats: Mix with a tablespoon of water, gargle and swallow for a sore throat.
5. Toothache: Apply to gums and teeth for pain relief from toothaches.
6. Oral Health: Apply orally to maintain healthy teeth and reduce cavities.
7. Wounds: Dilute with carrier oil and apply to cuts or open wounds to prevent infection and promote healing.
8. Carpet Cleaning: Put a few drops in your carpet steamer to disinfect carpet.
9. Headaches: Put a drop on your thumb and apply to the roof of your mouth for a headache.
10. Clean Dishes: Put in a few drops of Thieves essential oil blend in your dishwater or dishwasher to thoroughly clean dishes and eliminate odor.

Homemade Sore Throat Spray with Thieves

This homemade sore throat spray is super simple to make! Just place 20-30 Drops of Thieves Essential Oil into a 4oz glass spray bottle and then fill with filtered water. Shake well before use and spray in throat as needed for sore throat relief.
