Well, there has been some funky stuff going on with Safeway’s coupon policy during the last few days. I’m not too sure what to make of some of it at the moment, so we might just have to wait and see how this all plays out. Here are a few highlights:
Just for U
Safeway’s “Just for U” program which formally was only available in Hawaii, is now available everywhere! This is very exciting news since there are some great eCoupons that come along with the program. You can head on over here to sign-up for Safeway’s Just for U program and load your shopper’s card up with lots of great savings. It also says that when you sign-up you will get a coupon for a free dozen eggs, but it sounds like some people are having trouble getting that coupon to show-up. Did you get it on your account after signing up?
Competitor Manufacturer Coupons
You all might remember that a few months back Safeway started allowing us to use manufacturer coupons that contained another store’s logo. This was exciting because Catalinas (including Walgreen’s Register Rewards) are just that…manufacturer coupons with another store’s logo. For a while there were were able to use our Walgreens Register Rewards to pay for our groceries at Safeway. This was awesome because we didn’t have to worry about all the sometimes pain in the butt Walgreens rules such as filler items, coupon to item ratio etc. etc. But…a week after the new policy was released, they changed it to say that they would not accept $ off your total purchase competitor coupons, only $ off a specific item coupons.
Well…it seems like that have changed that part back allowing us to use all competitor manufacturer coupons, including Walgreens Register Rewards! I’m honestly not sure how long this will last…it will be interesting to see. I do highly suggest printing off the new policy and bringing it with you to the store.
It is being reported that in some areas the registers are now preventing shoppers from stacking eCoupons with manufacturer coupons. I do not see anything in Safeway’s new policy that has changed in regards to eCoupon stacking, but it might be coming. Like I said above…for now, we will just have to wait and see. I’m guessing that this will soon be a nationwide change to their policy, so I will no longer be matching up eCoupons to manufacturer coupons in my posts.
So there you have it…nothing to be too upset about. eCoupon stacking isn’t something that is going to affects us that much in the long run, so I’m not overly concerned. I will continue to update you as I learn more.
How do you feel about these changes to Safeway’s coupon policy?
