While I was still pregnant with Arietti we installed her car seat base into our SUV and scheduled an appointment over at our local hospital’s car seat check to have it inspected. To our surprise, despite reading the manual, we still needed to make a few small adjustments.
Considering that when a car seat is installed correctly into a vehicle, it reduces fatal injury to infants by 71%, this was something we were very serious about getting right and I’m grateful that we have local resources in our area to help new and existing parents alike to get those seats installed properly.
September is Baby Safety Month and I’m excited to be working with Chicco to help educate on some very simple steps that we can take as parents to keep our children safe when traveling in our vehicles. They have an entire website dedicated to educating caregivers on car seat safety with videos and FAQs answered by the experts.
Check out this handy infographic from Chicco with tips on correctly using a Convertible Carseat:
Chicco recently came out with a brand new ZipAir line of seats that feature a 3D AirMesh which aims at keeping littles clean, cool and happy. We had the opportunity to try out the NextFit Zip Air which is intended for children 5lbs all the way up to 65lbs. It was the perfect timing for our almost 5 month old because oh my goodness is her infant carrier starting to get heavy for my not as in shape as I’d like arms. 😉
I love that we can continue to use this seat Rear-Facing until she is 40lbs as we have learned that is the safest position for her seat and would like to keep her rear-facing for as long as possible.
This seat is so, so nice friends, and super easy to install. We were able to tell how much effort Chicco put in to helping parents install this seat safely without losing their minds! The ReclineSure 9-position leveling system, SuperCinch One-pull LATCH Tightener and RideRight bubble level allowed us to get the seat installed not only quickly, but also it gave us the confidence that it was installed properly and that peace of mind is so priceless. I was especially excited about how easy the shoulder belt height was to adjust – no pulling the belts through the other side of the seat – all we had to do was squeeze the Adjustment Handle at the top of the Head Rest and adjust up and down.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 3 out of 4 car seats are used incorrectly. Friends, we can fix this by working together and educating each other in love. If you’d like to find a free carseat inspection resource in your area visit SaferCar.gov and enter your zip code.
There are so many wonderful free resources out there and keeping our children safe is worth every minute we spend educating ourselves.
